Rosa Moreno

Special Assistant to the Vice President


Rosa Moreno currently serves as the Special Assistant to Vice President James R. Kitchen, where she focuses on access, retention and student learning. She brings a breadth of experience in both student development and academic affairs from almost 20 years of higher education experience.

Prior to her current position, Rosa served for six years at SDSU's Imperial Valley campus as the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. Before that, Rosa was the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs at Holy Names College in Oakland, CA, where she worked with faculty on diversifying the course curriculum, retention, and student development. She previously held a position at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, where she founded the Multicultural Center and developed the institution's student affirmative recruitment and retention plan at the university. Her first position in higher education was in 1988 at CSU Bakersfield as a counselor in TRIO's Student Support Services Program.

Rosa graduated from Cal State Northridge with a bachelor's degree in child development. She earned a master's degree in education, with an emphasis in organizational leadership, from Holy Names College.
