General InformationThe San Diego State University (SDSU) Liberal Studies Mathematics Proficiency Assessment has two sections of 18 questions each. Each section is separately timed. You will have 30 minutes to complete section 1 and 45 minutes to complete section 2. Study Guides Liberal Studies Mathematics Proficiency Assessment (Under Construction) Who Needs to Take the Liberal Studies Mathematics Proficiency Assessment? The Liberal Studies Mathematics Proficiency Assessment meets the Math Placement requirement for Mathematics 311 (Statistics and Probability in Elementary Mathematics), Mathematics 313 (Selected Topics in Elementary Mathematics) or Mathematics 315 (Selected topics in Algebra, Geometry, and Problem Solving). In addition to this assessement, students wishing to enroll in Mathematics 311, 313, or 315 must also be admintted to the Liberal Studies major.
