California State University (CSU) English Placement Test (EPT) Requirement for FALL 2008 Out of State Students

 

Answer "YES" or "NO" to the following questions:

Yes No 1. SAT I (taken 4/95 or later). Did you earn a score of 550 or higher on the Critical Reading section?
Yes No 2. ACT. Did you earn a score of 24 or higher on the English section?
Yes No 3. Did you place in the "exempt" category on the Early Assessment of Readiness for College English taken in conjunction with the 11th grade California Standards Test in English Language Arts?
Yes No 4. Achievement Test. Did you earn a score of 600 or higher on the English Composition with Essay test?
Yes No 5. SAT II/Subject Test (Taken 5/98 or later). Did you earn a score of 680 or Higher on Writing test?
Yes No 6. Advanced Placement Test. Did you earn a score of 3 or higher on the Language and Composition test OR the Composition and Literature test?
Yes No 7. Did you Pass with a C or better a transferable college GE English Composition course (3 semester or 4 quarter units) by the end of the Spring 2008 term?


    1 . If you answered "YES" to any of questions 1-7 above, you do not have to take the English Placement Test (EPT) and will not need any remedial course work in writing.

    2. If you answered "NO" to all of the questions above, you must take the English Placement Test (EPT). You can register for classes during the registration period, but failure to take the EPT on or before August 30, 2008 will prevent you from registering for any classes in the Spring 2009 semester.
