DIAGNOSTIC PLACEMENT EXAM OF SPANISH FOR SPANISH SPEAKERS (DPES)

 

(Placement Exam for U.S. Hispanics)

The content of the test is designed to help students identify the formal register of Spanish through a systematic presentation of salient and varied grammatical points. The items are presented in a progressive fashion: orthography and accentuation, verb conjugations, verb tenses, simple sentences and complex sentences. The knowledge tested in this exam is acquired through both informal and formal experiences.

Time: 55 minutes

Fee: $25.00

Your score will place you in one of the following four groups:

a) 0-35 points - Consult with Undergraduate Advisor and/or Instructors of
Spanish 281, 282 and 381

b) Spanish 281 - 36-55 points

c) Spanish 282 - 56-75 points - Go to the Spanish Department in BAM, Room 409

d) Spanish 381 - 76-100 points - Go to the Spanish Department in BAM, Room 409
