Directions to San Diego State University for Test Candidates

VERY IMPORTANT: Individuals taking paper-based group exams, such as the LSAT, MPRE, PRAXIS, EPT/ELM, GRE Subject, ACT Assessment, CBEST/CSET, CHES, NCE, CNET and SDSU placement/proficiency tests, must follow the parking instructions and reporting location indicated on the admission ticket. You will be cited if you do not park in the assigned parking location.

VISITOR PARKING (needed for individually scheduled computer-based testing, proctored distance-learning exams, and SDSU placement/proficiency exams for examinees who do not have a current, valid SDSU student parking permit):

Parking permits are required at all times, including weekends. Visitors may park in any pay lot or student lot with a pay permit. Pay permits are $1 per hour for a maximum of 8 hours. Visitor lots are represented by a yellow P on the lot or structure sign. Permit dispensing machines that accept cash or VISA and MasterCard payments are located at the Parking Information Booth, Parking Structure 5 level 2 north side and Parking Structure 6 level 1 northwest corner. Visitor parking permits are valid in any visitor or student parking area. (Do not park in a faculty/staff space.) Visit the Parking Information Booth located at the northeast corner of the Chemical Sciences Laboratory building if you have any questions. To get to the Parking Information Booth from Interstate 8, take the College Avenue South offramp. Proceed south on College Avenue to the driveway just past Canyon Crest Drive/Alvarado Road and pull up to the yellow permit dispensing machine. If you arriving on College Avenue going north, you can make U-turn at the traffic signal at Canyon Crest Drive and then turn right into the Parking Information Booth driveway.

DIRECTIONS TO PARKING STRUCTURE 1 (PS 1):

    Coming from Interstate 5, 163, 805 or 15: Take 8 East to College Avenue. Get in the lane on the off-ramp marked for Alvarado Road. Turn right at the light onto College Avenue and immediately get into the left turn lane so you can turn left at the first light (College Avenue/Alvarado Road intersection). There will be a multi-level parking structure to your right. This is Parking Structure 1 (PS 1). Follow the road around to the end or the back of this structure and make a right turn into the structure. (Note: If you miss the left at the first light, continue uphill and make a U-turn at the left turn lane halfway up the hill. Then, make a right turn into the structure.) You can park in any student or faculty/staff spot in this structure for paper-based group exams. Visitor permits (needed for individually scheduled exams in the Testing Office/Computer-Based Testing Center) are valid only in student parking spaces on the 4th and 5th floors.

    Coming from East San Diego County: Take 8 West to College Avenue. Turn left at the end of the off-ramp and cross the bridge that goes over interstate 8. Turn left at the second light (College Avenue/Alvarado Road intersection) and follow the instructions above.

    From the Parking Information Booth: Take a right as you exit the booth. At the traffic signal continue straight ahead and follow the signs to the PS 1 entrance.

    To get to the Education and Business Administration (EBA) Building building: Take the stairs or elevator in the parking structure to the sixth floor and walk across the pedestrian bridge to the campus. Go up the next set of stairs until you get to street level. You'll be at the north end of the Education and Business Administration (EBA) building.
    To get to the Geology, Mathematics and Chemistry Sciences (GMCS) Building: After EBA directions above - go to your right at the sidewalk. The next building on the right, is the GMCS building.
    To get to the Test Office/Computer-Based Testing Center in the Student Services Building (from the EBA building): Go to the south end of the EBA building. Cross the street and go up the stairs, through the archway and up the stairs (or elevator) at the clock tower. Go through the double doors to the right of the clock tower and down the hallway to SS 2549.
    To get to the Adams Humanities Building: Follow the above directions to the Student Services building, THEN: Go through the outdoor courtyard and past the clock tower of the Student Services building. You'll be at a large walkway (Centennial Walkway) in the center of campus. Take a left at Centennial Walkway, and follow the Aztec Union construction detour at the south end of Manchester Hall. Adams Humanities will be the first building on your left, across from the Open Air Theatre.

INSTRUCTIONS TO PARKING STRUCTURE 6 (PS 6) - VISITOR PARKING:

If you are arriving from Montezuma Road, turn north on East Campus Drive (one block east of College Avene). Parking Structure 6 will the second facility on your right. A parking permit dispenser machine is located on the northwest corner of level 1. After parking, take one of the pedistrian bridges over College Avenue. The Testing Office/Computer-Based Testing Center is located on the second floor in the northwest section of the Student Services Building (the building with the clock tower); stairs and elevators are adjacent to the central courtyard.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:

    The SDSU Transit Center which serves the San Diego Trolley (green line) and bus routes 11. 14. 15. 115. 856, 936 and 955, is located near the new Aztec Student Union (under construction). Go to the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System Website for more route and schedule information. You can see the Student Services Building (with the clock tower) from the Transit Center or follow the directional signs for other locations.
