There are two tests new out-of-state admitted students are required to take. Failure to take these tests on or before August 30, 2008 will prevent you from registering for any classes in the Spring 2009 semester.
These tests are:
English Placement Test (EPT)
and
Entry Level Mathematics Test (ELM)
You may have already met these requirements through your SAT, ACT, Advanced Placement test scores or college courses. Check the CSU English Placement Test and CSU Entry Level Mathematics Requirements information to determine whether or not you have already met these test requirements.
If you have not met these requirements, one of the following three options is available to you because you live outside of California:
1. If you’d like to test at a local testing office or local high school, you can contact the California office of Educational Testing Service and make arrangements to have the test(s) sent there. To make arrangements, please call (925) 808-2142 or e-mail csuout-of-state@ets.org. You will be charged any proctoring fee involved as well as test fees.
2. You can register for and take the test(s) you need at the CSU campus closest to you on the dates they have available. To register for the test(s) at San Diego State University, use the EPT/ELM Registration Page. For all other CSU locations, check the CSU Address and Phone Numbers to obtain the contact information for the location where you intend to test. This list also provides links for the CSU campuses that offer online registration for the EPT/ELM. (Note: If you plan to participate in the Freshmen Success Program, you are strongly advised to test on or before May 3, 2008. If you take the test later, you may still be able to participate in the program, but choices will be limited.)
3. You can register for classes during the registration period and take the tests at SDSU on August 30, 2008. This date is the last day the tests will be given before fall 2008 classes begin. The deadline to register for the August 30rd EPT/ELM given at SDSU is August 15th. To register for the test(s) at SDSU, use the EPT/ELM Registration Page . In addition, CSU Address and Phone Numbers provides contact information for all of the CSU campuses. This list also provides links to the CSU campuses that offer online registration for the EPT/ELM. FAILURE TO TAKE THE EPT/ELM ON OR BEFORE AUGUST 30, 2008 WILL PREVENT YOU FROM REGISTERING FOR ANY CLASSES IN THE SPRING 2009 SEMESTER.
