Responsibilities |

1. You have a right to know the Student Code of Conduct. You have a right at any time to call the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities for clarification of the Student Conduct process. |

You have a responsibility to know the Student Code of Conduct, published in the SDSU Catalog, Graduate Bulletin, Student Handbook, Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities website, and in the Student Housing License Agreement.You have a responsibility to comply with the Student Code of Conduct at all times, on and off campus, and on-line sites. |

2. You have a right to privacy of your student conduct record afforded by F.E.R.P.A. and C.I.P.A. |
2. You have a responsibility to provide specific written consent to your Judicial Officer if you want him or her to respond to anyone’s request to discuss your judicial record. |

3. You have a right to know the alleged policy violations against you. |
3. You have a responsibility to check your mail daily at your current residence and the address on your student record. Read and respond to university communication promptly. |

4. You have a right to an informal conference with a Judicial Officer on the date assigned. |
4. You have a responsibility to meet with the Judicial Officer on time, on the date assigned, or face additional charges.Be completely honest with the Judicial Officer |

5. You have a right and option to be accompanied by one non-attorney* advisor at the informal conference |
5. You have the responsibility to speak for yourself at the meeting- the advisor only advises you. |

6. You have a right to receive a written notice of the Judicial Officer’s decision. |
6. You have a responsibility to check your mail daily at your current residence and the address on your student record. You have a responsibility to read the Settlement Agreement thoroughly, and follow directions and date requirements in the Settlement Agreement, or face further charges.You have a responsibility to meet with your Judicial Officer promptly if you do not understand the Settlement Agreement. |

7. You have a right to accept sanctions of a Settlement Agreement, if offered, as a consequence of being found responsible for Student Conduct Code violations. OR |
7. You have a responsibility to return the signed Settlement Agreement on time and perform and complete all sanctions on time |

8. You have a right to decline the terms of the Settlement Agreement and request a Formal Hearing |

9. You have the right, at a Formal Hearing, to be accompanied by one non-attorney* advisor at the informal conference. |
9. You have the responsibility to speak for yourself at the hearing-the advisor only advises you. |

10. You have a right, if you believe procedures have not been followed correctly during the student conduct process, to speak to the Ombudsperson, and if unresolved, to make a complaint. |
10. Your responsibility in your complaint to the Ombudsperson is to focus on your concern regarding the procedures of the process, not on the findings and conclusions. |
