Internships

Student internships are a key component of the WorkAbility IV Program. Internships allow students to gain new skills and apply their academic knowledge in a work setting.  In addition, they are a great tool for networking and obtaining field experience prior to graduation.  Statistics show that students who complete internships are more marketable and are offered higher salaries.

The WorkAbility IV Internship Specialist is available to meet with students to discuss opportunities for field work and offer guidance in:

Some Internship Programs available to WorkAbility IV Students include:

Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP)

Temporary employment and training with the Federal Government.  Opportunities range from summer work to long-term work while in school.  These job opportunities need not be related to your field of study.   

Student Career Experience Program (SCEP)

Work experience directly related to your academic field of study with the Federal Government.  Provides formal periods of work and study while you are attending school.

Emerging Leaders

A competitive program that places college students with disabilities in summer internships and provides them with leadership development opportunities.

Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP)

The WRP connects federal and private employers nationwide with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities who desire employment.  Students who apply represent all majors and range from freshmen to graduate students and alumni.

Entry Point!

Entry Point offers internship opportunities for students with disabilities in science, engineering, mathematics, computer science, and some fields of business.

Making the Difference

The Making the Difference Federal Internship Program provides a one-of-a-kind summer experience for college students that match your professional goals to career options in the federal government.

Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and Technology (DO-IT)

Provides opportunities for students with disabilities, primarily in the science, engineering, business, and technology fields, to locate work experiences and paid internships, and network with professionals.
