Parent OrientationParent involvement plays a key role in the academic success of students during their college years. For this reason, SDSU sponsors a Parent Orientation Program that runs concurrently with the student program. After check-in, students and parents will separate into their respective orientation programs.
Research shows that students who bring parents/guests to orientation are more likely to earn a higher grade point average and persist in school.
Here’s why Parents must attend:
Ninety-eight percent of parents who completed a program evaluation recommended attending Parent Orientation to future Aztec parents. Regardless if you have had another son or daughter in college and/or if you are a local parent, it is important to attend Parent Orientation to learn about SDSU’s programs and services, and how your student can successfully graduate in a timely fashion.
*Guests under 15 years of age are not encouraged to attend. All guests are required to attend the Parent Orientation program.
Parents have a personal connection to SDSU through the Aztec Parents Association. Membership in the Aztec Parents Association will help you stay informed and involved with what's going on at the university. You will be informed about new opportunities, be invited to exciting activities, receive News for Aztec Parents during the year and best of all, whenever you have questions or concerns, you will have a knowledgeable, personal contact on campus. Your membership in the Aztec Parents Association will start during Parent Orientation and will remain active as long as your student is enrolled at SDSU.
