SDSU Transfer Student and Family Reception

Immediately following the 5th annual New Student and Family Convocation, which was held on August 25, SDSU held a special reception to personally welcome incoming transfer students and their families.

For the second year in a row, faculty, deans, department chairs and assistant deans made a heart-felt effort to welcome the incoming juniors into their areas. A few current students also attended to extend a warm welcome to these community college transfer students.

“It’s a nice welcome for us and really makes the school seem much smaller,” said incoming junior Michael Kelley, attending the College of Sciences reception.

Conceived by Provost Nancy Marlin last year with that exact goal in mind, the Transfer Student and Family Reception is one of many opportunities to help our transfer students become connected to SDSU.

“I want to send a special thank you to the deans and faculty who participated,” said Janet Castro, director of New Student and Parent Programs. “The students and their families especially enjoyed interacting with them, and that is what made the students feel like they were coming to a more intimate environment.”
