The Newsletter for SDSU Student Affairs
This year, Eric Rivera, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, was chosen as the Student Affairs’ honoree for President Weber’s Top 25, a recognition program that honors 25 individuals who accomplished transformational work at San Diego State University.
Rivera was recognized for his efforts in helping transform the way the campus thinks about parent involvement.
In the past year, his efforts have underscored the value of recognizing parents as partners in student growth and development, rather than as impediments. Through his efforts, our Aztec Parent programs have become nationally recognized. A Los Angeles Times article (October 2004) states that “in California, San Diego State, Stanford and USC often are cited as leaders in parent relations.” In addition, SDSU has been asked to present about our Aztec Parent programs at the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators conferences in Washington, D.C., and Boston.
President Weber recognized him, along with the other 24 awardees from across campus and the community, at a special banquet held on September 28. We congratulate him!
