SDSU Faculty-Led Programs

  • Semester or Summer programs
  • Travel abroad with a group of US students and SDSU faculty member
  • Advising and application through Extended Studies or Academic Department
  • Program fees vary/ Resident Credit
  • GPA and language requirements vary – 2.0 GPA or higher
  • Deadlines vary by program
  • London and Florence summer programs, Madrid Semester Program, Paris Semester, Travel Study Programs*

SDSU Exchange Programs

  • Semester or Academic year
  • Exchange places with a student abroad and integrate into mainstream university life
  • Pay SDSU tuition and earn Resident Credit/ Financial Aid and scholarships applicable
  • Most majors accommodated
  • GPA of at least 2.5 required (check with your advisor for specific country requirements)
  • Applications due by March 1 for Fall, October 1 for Spring (Australia: February 20th or September 20th)

CSU International Programs

  • Academic year only
  • Program structure varies with location; some include intensive pre-session language course
  • Pay SDSU tuition and earn Resident Credit/ Financial aid and scholarships applicable
  • Placement is major-specific for some locations
  • GPA at least 2.75 for most programs
  • Applications due by February 1 (May 1 for Australia & New Zealand)

International Student Exchange Program (ISEP)

  • Summer, Semester or Academic year programs
  • Exchange places with a student abroad and integrate into mainstream university life
  • Network of over 100 universities available; apply to top 10 choices with 1 application.
  • Pay tuition, room & board package price to SDSU
  • Earn Resident Credit/ Financial Aid applicable
  • GPA at least 2.75
  • Priority application deadlines: Jan 15 for Fall, August 15 for Spring, April 15 for Summer

Independent Programs

  • Widest variety of program offerings, but more expensive than SDSU programs
  • Advising and application process through non-SDSU program provider
  • Pay fees directly to program provider/ Financial Aid applicable with approved at SDSU prior to departure
  • Transfer credit, but still applicable toward SDSU graduation with major advisor approval
  • Wide range of GPA requirements starting at 2.0
  • Deadlines vary by program

*Travel Study Programs
Earn college credit by participating in a wide variety short-term summer and semester programs sponsored through the College of Extended Studies. International Business Majors
If you are an International Business student at SDSU and declared upper division during fall of 2000 or thereafter, you must either complete an internship abroad or study abroad in order to graduate from the IB program. For more details visit their website.

Internship/Work Abroad Opportunities
SDSU offers a number of internship/work abroad opportunities for students who prefer to gain first-hand practical experience. Through AIESEC and the International Business/Economics Internship Office, students can seek out overseas opportunities in over 40 countries.
