Course information
Profile: The Universidad del Salvador is one of Argentina's most highly regarded institutions. Founded as a Philosophy Research Institute in 1944, it was established as a private Catholic university under the direction of the Jesuits in 1956. In 1975, the administrative management of the university was transferred to lay personnel. Facilities include classroom and administration buildings, computer labs, bookstores and libraries. The university also has a campus at Pilar (40 km from central Buenos Aires) where students may take some classes and take advantage of the sports facilities. Total enrollment: 15,000 (including 250 exchange students per year).

Locale: Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, is a sophisticated metropolis, with one of the largest concentrations of Spanish-speaking people in the world. Situated on the Rio de la Plata, 100 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, it is a major port and the center of all activity in Argentina.

Academic notes: The faculties of social sciences and history/letters feature excellent offerings ranging from art to philosophy. Strong fields include history, literature, international relations, Latin American studies, liberal arts, psychology, physical and music therapy, social communication, and theater arts. Research facilities are available in environmental studies and social sciences, psychology and sociology, among others. The University offers a wide variety of graduate programs. Acceptance to these programs depends on each graduate department.
Six courses per semester are the normal load and most courses run the full academic year. ISEP students placed for a semester should discuss with their professors exam content and a schedule for examinations. ISEP students must maintain full-time status, which is a minimum of 5 subjects per semester for visiting international students.
Language notes: A minimum of four semesters of university-level Spanish or the equivalent must be completed prior to exchange. A Spanish-language program is available for students who have studied the language for a minimum of three years. It is offered from April to July or August to November (included in ISEP benefits). An intensive one-month course is held in July and February for intermediate and advanced students (not included in ISEP benefits).
Room and board: Students will be housed in shared apartments with other international students. A stipend or stipend/meal plan will be provided for meals.
