    Course information

    Profile: The Catholic University of Córdoba was initially founded as an institute in 1956, and recognized as a university in 1959 under the direction of the Jesuit Order. It is the oldest private university in Argentina. The activities of the University are carried out at the Main Building, in Córdoba 's downtown; at the campus (200 acres) where seven schools and sports field area located; at the School of Medicine and Reina Fabiola Clinic in General Paz area and at the four farms (13,590 acres, 5,000 head of cattle) for research and experimentation on farming and animal husbandry, located in the province of Córdoba. Total enrollment: 4,500 including 200 foreign students.

    Locale: Córdoba, the capital of the province of Córdoba, is the second largest city in Argentina. Its central geographic location attracts tourism, industry and commerce. The city offers cultural activities, sports facilities, music and theaters. The region also offers nearby lakes and mountains allowing many kinds of summer and winter recreation.

    Córdoba 's long tradition as a cultural center stems from the fact that the first university in Argentina and one of the first in the Americas was established there in 1613. Córdoba is home to the highest concentration of university students from all over Argentina and neighboring countries. The campus is located about six miles from downtown.

    Divisions: Architecture; Agronomy; Economics and Administration (accounting and business) ; Political Science and International Relations; Chemical Sciences; Juridical and Social Sciences (Law) ; Engineering (aeronautical, civil, computer, electrical-electronic, industrial and mechanical) ; Medicine, Philosophy and Humanities (literature, educational sciences). Graduate level : Institute of Business Administration .

    Academic notes: The UCC is particularly strong in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Agronomy, Medicine and International Relations. The University boasts an excellent Department of Microelectronics, which maintains strong linkages with Belgium, especially in the Electrical/Electronic Engineering major. Literature courses are offered.

    Language notes: Spanish language tutoring is available (not included in ISEP benefits) in addition to regular courses during the academic year. Intensive one-month Spanish courses are held in February and July for intermediate students (not included in ISEP benefits).

    Room and board: Housing and meals will be provided by host families.

    Profile: Founded in 1986 and granted official status as a private university in 1990, Universidad de Palermo (UP) has become one of the most innovative and vigorous educational institutions of Argentina. The library is considered to be the center of the academic life of the university and one of its most remarkable achievements, with a collection of 52,000 volumes. Campus research centers include the Center for Research in Architecture and Laboratory for Research in Urban Architecture and City Planning, Management Research Center, Center for Legal Postgraduate Studies, and the Center for Communication Studies and Visual Research. Total enrollment: 6,800, including 172 international students.

    Locale: UP, an urban campus, is located in the neighborhood of Palermo, Buenos Aires.

    Divisions: Schools of Architecture; Business and Economics (administration, marketing, accounting, finance, human resources, e-commerce, tourism) ; Design and Communication (graphic design, interior design, multimedia, fashion design, film and TV, advertising, public relations) ; Humanities and Social Sciences (journalism and communication, political science, international relations, clinical psychology, organizational psychology) ; Law; Science and Technology (data communications, software engineering, computer science, technology business, e-commerce).
    Graduate level: Master's in Business Administration, Law, Higher Education, Information Technology, Design.

    Academic notes: Most appropriate fields for ISEP students: art, business, design, Latin American studies and literature.

    Language notes: Advanced proficiency in Spanish required (a minimum of three years university-level study). No language instruction included in ISEP benefits. Spanish is offered at three levels for an additional fee.

    Room and board: Students live with host families or in a double occupancy room in a student residence hall. Some meals are provided by host families, the remainder are provided through a stipend. Students in a residence hall receive a stipend to prepare their own meals. No married student housing is available. Married students will be provided the housing fee and will find their own housing.

    Course information

    Profile: The Universidad del Salvador is one of Argentina's most highly regarded institutions. Founded as a Philosophy Research Institute in 1944, it was established as a private Catholic university under the direction of the Jesuits in 1956. In 1975, the administrative management of the university was transferred to lay personnel. Facilities include classroom and administration buildings, computer labs, bookstores and libraries. The university also has a campus at Pilar (40 km from central Buenos Aires) where students may take some classes and take advantage of the sports facilities. Total enrollment: 15,000 (including 250 exchange students per year).

    • Located in the heart of the city's cultural and business activities.
    • International staff provides academic counseling, a one-week orientation and organized social events for the culturally-diverse student body.

    Locale: Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, is a sophisticated metropolis, with one of the largest concentrations of Spanish-speaking people in the world. Situated on the Rio de la Plata, 100 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, it is a major port and the center of all activity in Argentina.

    Divisions: Agronomy; Business Administration (information systems and human resources, marketing) ; Chemistry; Economics; Education and Social Communication (communication, journalism and public relations) ; History and Letters (environmental sciences, geography, history, interpretation/translation, literary style correction, literature, linguistics, modern languages and tourism) ; Industrial Engineering; Juridical Sciences (criminology and law) ; Mathematics; Medicine (image diagnosis technology and phonoaudiology, music therapy, nutrition, occupational therapy, physical and sport related activities, specialization in deaf and language disorders) ; Odontology; Oriental Studies (Arabic, comparative East-West studies, Greek, Hebrew, Japanese, Latin and Sanskrit) ; Philosophy; Physics; Psychology (educational and labor) ; Psycho pedagogy; Public Health; Social Sciences (international relations, political science, social work and sociology) ; Theater Arts (set design, drama) ; Veterinary Medicine. Graduate level only: Drug Addiction Prevention.

    Academic notes: The faculties of social sciences and history/letters feature excellent offerings ranging from art to philosophy. Strong fields include history, literature, international relations, Latin American studies, liberal arts, psychology, physical and music therapy, social communication, and theater arts. Research facilities are available in environmental studies and social sciences, psychology and sociology, among others. The University offers a wide variety of graduate programs. Acceptance to these programs depends on each graduate department.

    Six courses per semester are the normal load and most courses run the full academic year. ISEP students placed for a semester should discuss with their professors exam content and a schedule for examinations. ISEP students must maintain full-time status, which is a minimum of 5 subjects per semester for visiting international students.

    Language notes: A minimum of four semesters of university-level Spanish or the equivalent must be completed prior to exchange. A Spanish-language program is available for students who have studied the language for a minimum of three years. It is offered from April to July or August to November (included in ISEP benefits). An intensive one-month course is held in July and February for intermediate and advanced students (not included in ISEP benefits).

    Room and board: Students will be housed in shared apartments with other international students. A stipend or stipend/meal plan will be provided for meals.
