    Eskisehir

Language of instruction: English and Turkish

    Academic year and semester exchanges

    http://www.anadolu.edu.tr/

Anadolu University was found in November 6, 1958 and is located in Eskisehir, Turkey and is recognized as a modern, dynamic and innovative university by the country's universities and also by the biggest universities in the world. The Department of Fine Arts is a distinguished institution with not only its ateliers, but also its infrastructure for arts training, respectable staff and technical personnel, and technological tools and materials.

Following the training based on creativity, aesthetics, contemporary technology and productivity principles, the creativity of our students developed encouraging them to become artists. They are trained in seven majors, instiling imagination, scientific thought and productivity. The majors are animation, printmaking, graphic design, sculupture, interior design, painting and ceramics.

The City: Eskisehir is also known as the " student city," because 1/10 of the population of the city is the student of Anadolu University and other Universities in Eskisehir. Eskisehir is a center of education, science and culture. Eskisehir is at the same time, a historical town. The city reflects deep traces of civilizations such as the Hitties, Prygians, Romans, Byzantines, Seljucks and the Ottomans, and plays an important role in the Turkish Republic's modernization efforts. With a known history of 7000 years, it is a cultural mosaic.

Climate: Altough Turkey is situated in a geographical location where climatic conditions are quite temperate, the diverse nature of the landscape, and the existence in particular of the mountains that run parallel to the coasts, results in significant differences in climatic conditions from one region to the other. While the coastal areas enjoy milder climates, the inland Anatolian plateau experiences extremes of hot summers and cold winters with limited rainfall.

Housing: To rent an apartment in Eskisehir ( which has a view of Porsuk River running across the city center) doesn't cost more than $ 150. Students in Eskisehir usually rent and share an apartment together, and it costs around $ 20 per person. There are also residence halls located in the main campus, but students usually prefer renting an apartment because it costs almost the same and the halls are not as comfortable as the apartments.

Travel: A country of sun and history, Turkey is located where the three continents making up the old world, Africa and Europe are closest to each other and straddle the point where Europe and Asia meet. Because of its geographical location, the mainland, Anatolia, has witnesses the mass migration of diverse peoples shaping the course of history. The home to countless civilisations, Anatolia has developed a unique synthesis of cultures, each with its own distinct identity, yet each linked to its predecessors through insoluble treads.

The Turks are mostly overwhelmingly friendly to foreign visitors, the cuisine is frequently excellent, the cities are dotted with majestic old buildings and the countryside is often worth a good old-fashioned gasp. There's an enormous variety of things to see and do ranging from water sports to mountain trekking, archaeology to night-clubbing and river rafting to raki drinking. Eskisehir is almost in the middle of the country, and transportation by bus or railways is convenient and cheap.

    Bilkent University

Profile:  Bilkent University was founded on October 20, 1984 by Ihsan Dogramaci. Created as a center of excellence in higher education and research, the name ``Bilkent'' exemplifies the founder's aim, as an acronym of ''bilim kenti,'' Turkish for ''city of science and knowledge.'' In October 1986 Bilkent University admitted its first students. That year there were 386 undergraduate and graduate students. Currently there are over 10,000 students in nine faculties, two four-year professional schools, two two-year vocational schools and the School of English Language plus six graduate schools (called institutes). Among them are foreign students from 72 countries.
Locale: Ankara is a center for opera, ballet, jazz and modern dance as well as the home of the Turkish Parliament, ministries, foreign embassies and nine universities. Shopping in Ankara can be exciting in the old part of the town for buying old copper, jewelry, carpets and kilims, antiques and embroidery. Modern shopping malls are scattered in and around the city selling various new items. Small shopping areas, local markets and restaurants are other attractive sights one should not miss. Ankara's location makes it very convenient for "Weekend Escapes" to reach to skiing resorts, cultural and historical sites, and the seaside. İstanbul is only five hours away by bus.
