    Program Description

Students going to Taiwan have the opportunity to study at one of two outstanding universities: National Taiwan University and National Tsing Hua University.

Students with one year of formal Chinese language study may choose to study at the National Taiwan University located in Taipei. Students will take a language placement test upon arrival. Based on that test they will be placed in an appropriate level of language offered through NTU's International Chinese Language Program (ICLP). While the primary focus for most students will be on language learning additional courses will be available in English on subjects such as Chinese Culture and Society, Chinese Intellectual History, the History of China and Chinese Art History. Students with native or near native ability may take classes in the University.

Students with fluency in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese and a strong academic interest in science and technology may study at National Tsing Hua University located in Hsinchu, a little more than an hour from Taipei. National Tsing Hua has an outstanding reputation in the sciences and is home to the first nuclear reactor in Taiwan.
