Police Officers provide complete law enforcement services on and around the campus, 24 hours a day, and they work closely with the San Diego Police Department. The University Police communicates regularly with the campus community about potential criminal activity. www.police.sdsu.edu

“Blue Light Phones”

The SDSU Police Department maintains “blue-light” emergency/duress phones throughout the campus. These phones provide immediate access to Police Department Dispatch (no need to dial 9-1-1). Approximately 100 emergency/duress phones are strategically located throughout the campus, including each elevator in every campus building. Use them to report: crimes, suspicious activities, emergencies and other situations where police assistance is required. See the phone locations at: http://police.sdsu.edu/duressphones.htm

Escort Service

An escort service is provided from dusk to dawn for the safety of anyone walking alone on campus. Students may call 594-6659 (46659 from any campus phone), or use any of the distinctly marked campus duress phones to summon an escort.

Campus Safety Act

The Campus Safety Act requires universities to report annual crime statistics, provide timely warnings of serious crimes when there may be a threat to others, and to keep a public log of campus incidents.

SDSU offers the following prevention programs to the campus community:

SDSU Safety and Security Reports and Crime Prevention Brochures

San Diego State University Safety and Security Report and current annual crime statistics are available online at: http://www.dps.sdsu.edu/pubs.htm

Off-Campus Resources

The San Diego Police Department provides law enforcement services off-campus. For any emergency situation dial 9-1-1. This service is free of charge from any phone (pay phone, landline, and mobile.)
