Welcome to San Diego State’s Office of Intercultural Relations/Cross-Cultural Center. The goal of Intercultural Relations is to provide information, resources and opportunities to students to maximize their success at SDSU State. All students are invited to participate in programs and services offered by Intercultural Relations.

At SDSU, it is extremely important to support diversity by valuing individuals and groups free from prejudice, and by fostering a climate where equity and mutual respect are intrinsic. SDSU strives to create a success-oriented, cooperative and caring community that draws intellectual strength and produces innovative solutions from the synergy of its people.

Overview and Mission Statement

The Office of Intercultural Relations researches, designs and implements unique programs that promote the appreciation of cultural diversity and fosters intercultural and cross-cultural understanding.

Intercultural Relations provides programs and services that support the academic mission of the University by enhancing the educational, personal, cultural, and social development of students. Intercultural Relations strives to build positive advocacy and collaborative relationships with the general student body with a special emphasis towards underrepresented student populations.

Many of the programs and services expand students’ cultural horizon while honoring their respective cultural experiences. Intercultural Relations works in conjunction with a number of university departments and colleges to conduct programs related to recruitment, orientation, retention and graduation in addition to academic, personal, professional and cultural development, which foster skills and strategies for being successful at SDSU.
