The mission of the Intercultural Relations/Cross-Cultural Center is to promote the appreciation of cultural diversity and to foster intercultural and cross-cultural understanding.
The Cross-Cultural Center provides safe spaces and fosters intellectual inquiry, identity development, social change, and acceptance of all people and cultures.
We confront all forms of oppression and promote understanding of intersecting identities that include, but are not limited to, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, sex, culture, age, ability, class, spirituality and body image.
ICR/CCC provides programs and services that support the academic mission of the University by enhancing the educational, personal, cultural, and social development of students.
ICR/CCC continues to build partnerships with SDSU departments and the surrounding community.
It is our great pleasure to announce the first edition of our monthly newsletter sponsored by the Intercultural Relations/Cross-Cultural Center featuring multicultural news that you can share and use.
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome our incoming freshmen and transfer students! We are happy to have you join our San Diego State University student community. We also welcome our returning students who are already part of our community. We hope that your summer was full of memorable events, and that you are refreshed and ready for an exciting school year.
San Diego State University is a community in which the uniqueness of each person is honored and where diversity is celebrated. We are a community where the well-being of each individual is supported and service to others is encouraged. As we enter a new semester and you begin your journey at San Diego State University let us think about our shared values and work together to make our learning community the best it can be.
We would also like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves, as the Intercultural Relations/Cross-Cultural Center staff. Your new Director is Dr. Tanis Starck who previously served as the Director of the Centers for Student Involvement and who has for over eighteen years developed programs and services for students. The Assistant Coordinator is Jerome Budomo and along with Adriana Espinoza, the Administrative Support Assistant, we are honored to serve your multicultural needs and help you, our students, achieve your personal and professional goals while at SDSU.
