The Intercultural Relations/Cross-Cultural Center in conjunction with the College of Sciences presents...
The 2007 Wellness Champion of Diversity Dr. Ernest C. Levister Jr.
“Making a Case for Diversity: Community Advocacy & Academic Reform in the Inland Empire: The J.W. Vines Medical Society Experience”
In support of SDSU's 2007-2008 Common Experience.
Dr. Ernest Levister's outstanding, unselfish contributions and dedicated service is a testimony to one of life's most persistent and urgent questions, "What have you done for others?" He is not only a highly respected mentor, scholar and leader in the Inland Empire, he is a physician whose passion is "serving the underserved by empowering and education."
Dr. Ernest C. Levister is a highly regarded advocate for the underrepresented and for dismantling health care disparities. Levister's desire to level the playing field propelled him to lead the Vines Medical Society, an affiliate of the National Medical Association. Dr. Levister served as President of the J.W. Vines Medical Society, a component of the National Medical Association, from 1994 until 2001. The organization supports and advocates such issues as equal opportunity education, the development and retention of African American physicians and improving the overall quality of patient care in our communities.
