Room Care Guidelines

Adhering to the following room care guidelines will help prevent damage charges at move-out.

Please do not stack beds except with approved bunking extensions. They are not built for this purpose and in doing so you will damage the furniture and serious injuries may occur. Please do not disassemble any furnishings, or remove items such as closet doors, closets, mirrors, screens, etc. No waterbeds or water chairs are permitted.

Residents are responsible for the furniture in their rooms/suites. Furniture may not be exchanged room to room. Furniture may not be set out on balconies. A $20 fee will be charged for every item of furniture that has to be moved back to its original location in public areas and $5 per piece for moved room furniture. Contact paper is not to be applied to furniture.

Residents may not paint their rooms. Repainting will be done by the maintenance staff as specific need arises. Except in Villa Alvarado, university-provided microfridges and refrigerators are the only appliances approved for use in residence hall rooms.

The department has a “no posting” policy. The university reserves the right to remove from public view any signs or objects deemed offensive to others or prejudicial to the overall goals of the university.
