3-bedroom apartments are assigned two (2) parking spaces
4-bedroom apartments are assigned two (2) parking spaces
• When can I move in?
All of the leases at Piedra del Sol begin during the months of June, July and
August and are 12 months long. We stagger them throughout the summer months
to try and accommodate everyone. Once your lease has been approved, you will
need to make an appointment with the apartment manager to arrange receiving
your keys.
• How big are the rooms at Piedra del
Sol?
All of the bedrooms in the 2 and 4-bedroom apartments, as well as two (2) of
the bedrooms in the 3-bedroom apartment are approximately 9’ x 12’.
This includes a closet that is approximately 2’ x 6’. The master
bedroom in the 3-bedroom apartment is approximately 16’ x 12’. This
bedroom also has a walk-in closet measuring 4’ x 2’5”, and
a private bathroom of 6’ x 8’.
• I
heard that you need to have 60 units to live in Piedra del Sol, is that
true?
Not entirely. However, priority
is given to those students with more
completed units. For example, if there
are two people applying for a 2-bedroom
apartment, we will add their total
units together, and compare that total
with other people applying for the
same sized apartment.
• Can I apply to live with my boyfriend who
goes to a local community college?
Although apartments can be “mixed genders,” all tenants
living in Piedra del Sol must be regularly enrolled SDSU students in good standing- this means NO one currently on academic or administrative probation. This
also means no pets or children. SDSU transfer students
must have proof of acceptance to the university to apply
and SDSU students must present current transcripts.
• If I get an apartment, how much is the security
deposit?
Piedra del Sol does not require a security deposit. However, we require a last
month’s rent payment (after being notified on of approval, you must submit
a full month’s rent (see above) with the lease). This payment will be paid
out to the unit during the last full month of the lease.
•Can I apply with my male/ female friend who
goes to a local community college?
Although apartments can be “mixed genders,” all tenants
living in Piedra del Sol must be SDSU students. This means no pets or
children. Transferring students must have proof of acceptance to the
University to apply and SDSU students must present current transcripts.
•Can I share a room?
For the two and four bedroom units, there is no room sharing. The only
room that can be shared is the master bedroom in a 3-bedroom apartment.
That means you can apply with four people for a three bedroom, but a maximum
of two (2) for a 2-bedroom and four (4) for a 4-bedroom.
• We want a 4 bedroom apartment, but there
are only 3 of us applying - what happens then?
If you are approved for a 4-bedroom apartment with 3 people, you are
still responsible for the full rental amount. You may sublease the vacant
room in your apartment when you find someone you want to live with and
who is approved by Piedra del Sol. However, applications are taken in
groups and single applications will not be matched together or considered.
•Can we apply for both a 3 and 4 bedroom?
Please indicate to the staff when turning in the application what your
first and second choices are. If you do not qualify by units for your
first choice, your application will be considered for your second choice.
•How many apartments are available for next
year?
Tentatively PdS will have ten 2-bedrooms, two 3-bedrooms, and seventeen
4-bedrooms available for rent. We however cannot judge what
your chance of acceptance is, it is all dependent upon
the amount and quality of applications we receive this year.
• Who can I talk to if I have more questions?
Rebecca Golob is the on-site manager and can answer
any questions you have. She can be
reached by calling 619.594.2274 or by email at pds@mail.sdsu.edu.
