On-Campus Housing

How to Apply for a Residential Learning Community

Request a License Agreement

If you have not already done so, you must request an on-campus housing License Agreement. Request one online in the SDSU WebPortal today.

Make Your Intent to Enroll Payment

Priority for on-campus housing is based on the date University Cashiers posts the $250 Intent to Enroll payment for admitted students.  Therefore, the sooner you submit your Intent and payment, the greater your chance of receiving on-campus housing and hall preference. Payments made online through CASHNet will be posted immediately while payments that are delivered or mailed will be posted once Cashiers receives and processes the payment.

Complete Your Online License Agreement

License Agreements will be available early spring in the SDSU WebPortal (for fall semester) to admitted students that have completed a request for a License Agreement and paid the Intent to Enroll $250 payment.  The online License Agreement process requires you to complete your Living Choices form, download all contract documents and pay the $800 initial payment.

You can state your living community preference while completing Living Choices. If you are interested in one or more learning communities, be sure those learning communities are among your top residence hall choices. Changes to your Living Choices will be allowed at any time prior to the June 1, 2007 License Agreement deadline.

Return License Agreement and Initial Payment

Complete, sign and return all the applicable License Agreement documents.  Enclose the $800 initial payment (if you choose not to pay online in CASHNet), payment options are listed on the Payment Authorization Form. To maintain your housing priority, set by the Intent to Enroll Payment date, the University must receive and record all License Agreement documents and the $800 initial payment no later than 4:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on June 1, 2007.  Return all documents and payment to the University Cashiers. If ANY documents or payments are received after June 1, 2007 the student will lose their Intent to Enroll priority payment date and be given the date that the last document and/or payment is received.  We strongly recommend allowing extra time for documents to be received and recorded by the University as we cannot be responsible for delays in the mail.

Receive Space Confirmation Via Mail

You will be mailed a signed copy of your License Agreement with a residence hall Space Confirmation.  Receipt of these two items is confirmation that a space has been reserved for you.  Hall assignments and roommate information will be available in the SDSU WebPortal in early August.  A move-in guide will also be available to help you prepare for your move.

Confirmation of Admission to the Residential Learning Community

You will be notified between mid-June or July of your selection to a learning community. If accepted, you will be placed in a course package dependent on the learning community you are placed in.

You will receive a confirmation letter indicating your assigned learning community and course package, including the days and times of your courses. You will automatically be registered for those courses. Please note that assignments are to specific sections of courses and cannot be changed. You must remain enrolled in all courses in your course cohort in order to remain in your learning community.

Be sure to bring your confirmation letter with you to New Student Orientation so that your academic advisor can help you complete your course schedule.

New Student Orientation

Please plan on attending SDSU’s New Student Orientation. Refer to your New Student Orientation brochure mailed in the spring or contact the Office of New Student & Parent Programs at (619) 594-1509.
