The International House Welcomes You!The International House (I-House) is a residential community designed to provide students with a unique opportunity to live in an environment that fosters academic excellence, while encouraging cross-cultural understanding, cooperation and friendship. Approximately half the residents are from the United States and half are international students. Students get to know each other and share their cultures through a variety of social and educational programs. The I-House is open to upper-division, graduate and exchange students. Selection for the program is competitive and based on student interest in community participation and cross cultural learning. Residents commit to be actively involved in the community.

Facilities, Services & CostThe I-House is located in the Villa Alvarado (VA) complex, which provides on-campus apartment-style living. The complex is for both men and women, but individual apartments are one gender only. Each apartment has two bedrooms, a living area, dining area, large bathroom and kitchen. They are fully furnished and carpeted (except for bed linens and cooking items). Four students are assigned to each apartment (two per bedroom). Roommate preference will be considered but is not guaranteed. The complex has a laundry room, recreation room, TV lounge, and community kitchen. Under California law, there is no smoking in apartments or anywhere within the gated community. VA residents may remain over Thanksgiving, winter and spring vacations. However, VA is not open to residents over the summer. The cost for Villa Alvarado without a meal plan for the 2008-2009 academic year is $6,872.
