Questions About Hall Assignments
How do you make residence hall assignments?
You will be assigned to a residence hall based on the date and timestamp the Office of Housing Administration receives and processes your License Agreement documents and initial $800 payment. In order for the OHA to make your housing assignment, you must provide us with your living preferences for room, hall and meal plan by completing your online License Agreement in the SDSU
WebPortal. The hall assignment process is on a first-come, first-served basis. This process is also based on the number of available spaces and the date timestamp the OHA received and processed your License Agreement documents.
When do I receive my
hall assignment?
Your specific hall assignment will
be made available to you around the beginning of August
for the academic year and around
the beginning of January for the spring semester in the SDSU
WebPortal.
How do
you make roommate assignments?
If you do not designate
a roommate, the computer
will match
you with someone based on the information you provide
in your Living Choices.
You will meet your
roommate during move-in. (We will notify you of the
name and phone number of your assigned roommate if the
roommate agreed to release that information.)
While we match roommates by similar, self-reported
characteristics, it is the responsibility of roommates
to achieve an acceptable living
relationship through communication and negotiation.
Do I get to pick the hall and roommate that I want?
You can indicate your hall and roommate
preferences by completing your online License Agreement
in the
SDSU
WebPortal.
There is no guarantee that we will be able to accommodate
your request since spaces are assigned based on your
the date your License Agreement and initial payment are received and processed. That is why we urge students
to indicate several hall choices. If you have a specific
roommate request, both students must indicate each
other as their roommate preference--you will not be
assigned together if only one student mentions
the other.
What if I want to move to a hall other
than the one to which I am assigned?
We may offer
the opportunity to sign up
for hall switchduring the fall semester, depending upon
space availability. We cannot guarantee that we will be
able to accommodate your
request.
What if I change my mind about my hall choice, living community,
roommate preference or meal plan after I've completed
my online License Agreement?
Part of the
online License Agreement process requires students
to complete their Living Choices form. Changes to
your Living Choices will be allowed at any time prior
to the May 19, 2008 License Agreement deadline. After
the May 19th deadline, you may still change your selections but your request
for change must be submitted in writing. To change your meal plan after May 19th, follow the meal plan change
date schedule in the License Agreement.
May I contract for the fall only?
No. There are two
contracting periods: academic year and spring semester only.
