Guide to Living in the Halls

Your Living Community

Preparing for a Roommate
Moving into the residence halls can be a life change for many residents. Learning to share your space with another person (or four or seven) can be a great opportunity for growth and change. It can also pose challenges that you will need to work through. Each resident is expected to complete a Roommate Agreement with their roommate. The Residential Education staff has created a handout for you to review in preparation for completing your Roommate Agreement (pdf format, Adobe Acrobat required). Each resident will work together to set a standard of living for their room or suite, rules that each person intends to respect. Part of the residence hall experience is learning to respect one another's differences and the Residential Education staff is here to help you through that transition.

Life 101
To grow as a whole person and enjoy your residential experience fully, you are cordially invited to participate in LIFE 101!

RAs and your Hall Council provide hundreds of opportunities to learn outside the classroom. They offer educational activities, social events, community meetings; even on-the-spot rewards for your contributions to your community! As society’s leaders, university students should have opportunities to learn more about themselves and others, and learn how to assist themselves and others in reducing the risk behaviors faced in young adulthood. LIFE 101 is a model of the living and learning opportunities provided to you as a residential student. All the topics below are offered.
