General Questions
Is housing guaranteed for first-time freshmen?
Beginning in fall 2008, new first-time freshmen who
have been admitted to San Diego State University are guaranteed a space
in on-campus housing when a completed License Agreement is received and
processed by the Office of Housing Administration.
A completed License Agreement includes all required documents and the
initial $800 payment. Completed License Agreements must be received
and processed no later than 4:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Tuesday,
May 1, 2008 by the Office of Housing Administration. If ANY License Agreement
documents or payments are received after Tuesday, May 1, 2008, the student
will lose their housing assignment priority and guarantee date. Their
new housing assignment priority date will be the date the last document
and/or payment is received. Student housing preferences will be considered,
but students will be assigned to a single, double or triple space depending
on availability on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Is housing guaranteed for returning residents?
Returning residents are guaranteed a space in on-campus
housing when a completed License Agreement is received and processed
by the Office of Housing Administration by April 1, 2008. A completed
License Agreement includes all required documents and the initial $800
payment. Completed License Agreements must be received and processed
no later than 4:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on April 1, 2008. If
ANY License Agreement documents or payments are received after April
1, 2008, the student will not be guaranteed on-campus housing. Their
housing assignment priority date will be the date the last document
and/or payment is received.
Assignment priority will be first come, first served based on the date
that all completed License Agreement documents and the initial $800 payment
are received and processed by the Office of Housing Administration. Assignment
to Learning Communities is dependent on availability at the time a License
Agreement is received. You are still required to complete the License
Agreement process via your SDSU WebPortal.
Returning residents are encouraged to move to one of our two sophomore
communities--“Sophomore Year Experience”--within Aztec Corner
and Villa Alvarado. Returning residents will also have first choice
of all rooms including single rooms in Cuicacalli, Chapultepec and Zura. Your
actual choices must be selected during the License Agreement process
within your SDSU WebPortal.
When will the License Agreement be accessible in the SDSU WebPortal?
The License Agreement is available March 5
to admitted students when University Cashiers posts the $250 Intent
to Enroll payment. Therefore, the sooner you submit your Intent
to Enroll and payment, the sooner you will be granted access to the
License Agreement and the greater your chance of receiving on-campus
housing and hall preference. Intent to Enroll payments made online
through CASHNet will be posted immediately while payments that are
delivered or mailed will be posted after University Cashiers receives
and processes the payment. For all applicants space assignments
will be based on the date the Office of Housing Administration receives
and posts your completed License Agreement documents
and initial $800 payment.
How is mail processed at San Diego State University?
License Agreements mailed to the address provided on
the payment coupon are received by SDSU Mail Services. SDSU Mail
Services is responsible for receiving, sorting and delivering all of
the incoming United States Postal Services (USPS) mail, USPS accountable
mail (includes Express, Registered, Certified and Insured) and all
accelerated delivery service (over-night delivered) providers (DHL,
FedEx, UPS, EMS, etc.). During peak periods, mail may not be
processed on the same day it is received at SDSU Mail Services.
For those choosing to mail their License Agreement documents and initial
$800 payment, OHA strongly recommends allowing extra time for documents
and payment to be received and processed, as OHA cannot be responsible
for delays in the mail.
Alcohol free residence halls. What does this mean?
Beginning in Fall 2008 all apartments and residence
halls covered by the License Agreement will be alcohol free. Neither
residents nor guests of any age may possess or consume alcohol in the
residence halls.
What percentages of freshmen live in the residence halls?
The residence halls consist of approximately 76% freshmen.
What is considered a disability?
Contact Student Disability Services (SHS) to discuss
your disability or to learn more about SHS see: http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/sds
You must be registered with Student Disability Services for any special needs requested that would affect your room or hall assignment. Student Disability Services will notify the Office of Housing Administration of required accommodations. Please describe the requested accommodations in the Housing Preferences section of the Student Housing Living Choices in your SDSU WebPortal.
What if I have a health condition that is affected by group
living?
Residence halls are multiple occupancy facilities with
shared spaces. Persons with pre-existing conditions such as, but
not limited to, environmental allergies, asthma or other health condition
that might be affected by group living are not considered for release
from the License Agreement. Consult with your physician before
signing the License Agreement to determine if group living is an appropriate
environment for you.
When is the first day of move-in?
Friday, August 29, 2008. You will be notified of your move-in time.
Can I move in to the Residence Halls early?
Early move-in is available only to students assigned
to Villa Alvarado residence hall and only for those with an educationally
related need. Additional charges apply.
International students should contact the International Student Center
for more information regarding move in at: telephone: 1-619-594-1982,
FAX: 1-619-594-1973, or email: ISC.Reception@sdsu.edu.
Is smoking allowed in the residence halls?
Executive Order 599 prohibits smoking in any University buildings,
including residence halls, student rooms, lounges, recreation rooms,
public areas, hallways, stairwells, balconies, walkways and pool areas. Smoking
is also prohibited in outdoor areas within 20 feet of entranceways, windows
and ground level air intake structures. Licensee accepts responsibility
for informing visitors or guests of the University’s no-smoking
policy.
Where can I park?
Visit the Parking Information website at http://www.dps.sdsu.edu/parkinginfo.htm for
more up to date information. All SDSU students who wish to park
on campus are required to purchase a University parking permit. Your
University registration packet will contain parking information and costs. Residence
hall students who purchase a University parking permit will also need
to purchase an Overnight Parking Permit from University
Cashiers. Overnight Parking Permits allow you to park in any lot
listed on your permit. This permit also allows you to park adjacent
to your residence hall.
Where can I park if I live at Aztec Corner or University Towers?
Assigned parking at University Towers and Aztec Corner
offers residents convenient, on-site, assigned parking spaces. No
need to walk through the parking structures searching for your car,
carry bags across the street or hunt for a place to park. At
University Towers and Aztec Corner, your parking spot can be right
outside or in the garage below your residence hall. Assigned
spots are reserved on a first-come-first-serve basis and a waiting
list is usually expected.
There is an additional monthly cost for these spaces. For these
costs, contact the respective residence hall representative listed below. The
University parking permit is not valid here, nor is the University Towers
or Aztec Corner parking permits valid for other University parking lots
or parking structures.
For further questions you may contact one of the building representatives
from College Park Communities at: University Towers, 619-594-8009
or Aztec Corner, 619-582-4074.
I’ve already purchased my University parking permit and
now I have been assigned to University Towers or Aztec Corner. What
do I do?
Your room assignment is not released until late
July or early August and you may have already purchased a University parking
permit. Residents assigned to University Towers or Aztec Corner
who has already purchased their parking permits should contact the University
Cashiers Office for a refund. You must provide documentation that
you have a parking permit from either University Towers or Aztec Corner,
so keep a copy of the contract you signed for your assigned parking space
as your proof of documentation.
How much money should I bring?
You should arrive with enough money to purchase books
and supplies for your classes and to buy meals until your meal plan
begins on the first day of classes. If you are receiving financial
aid, it is possible that all of your available financial aid funds
will be used to cover the cost of your registration fees and housing. Make
sure that you have other funds to cover expenses throughout the semester.
When do the Residence Halls close for Thanksgiving, winter and
spring break?
For more information visit http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/housing/dates.html on
the Housing Website under “Important Dates”.
What important dates should I know about?
For important dates visit http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/housing/dates.html.
Learning Communities And Where To Live
Where does the University recommend I live?
The University recommends that you live on-campus. If you choose to live on-campus during your freshman
year, the University recommends you live in a residential learning community.
Being an active member in your community and doing well academically
will make your transition to college smoother.
For assistance with hall preference, try our “hall selector” website at http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/housing/find-your-hall.html if
you are not sure which community is right for you.
What are my living options?
There are eight residence
hall or apartment complexes, with a variety of living options. Whatever
option you choose, you'll find a true sense of community at your SDSU
home. For more information on residence hall living and the variety
of living options available to you, visit http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/housing/thehalls.html.
Student housing preferences will be considered, but students will be
assigned to a single, double or triple space depending on demand and
availability.
To view residence hall room layouts, visit the virtual tours and hall information at http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/housing/thehalls.html. Just
click the hall you are interested in and click the 360 panoramic
views.
I only want to live in Cuicacalli, why should I choose more
than one Room Type Preference when selecting my Student Housing Living
Choices?
Since your housing priority is based on when your completed
License Agreement documents and the initial $800 payment are received
and processed, your first choice may not be available when rooms are
assigned. Rank your preferences from first to sixth. You
may not select more than four Room Type Preference choices per residence
hall.
I-House Supplemental – Why do I have to fill this out?
The International House (I-House) is open to upper-division,
graduate and exchange students. Selection for the program is
competitive and based on student interest in community participation
and cross-cultural learning. Residents commit to being actively
involved in the community.
If one of your Living Choices is Villa Alvarado--International House,
the I-House Supplemental will appear in the Housing Admin screen--under
Housing Requirements--and must be completed and submitted with all your
License Agreement documents and payment. If the Office of Housing
Administration does not receive this form, you will not be considered
for this program and your License Agreement will be considered incomplete.
View more about International House at http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/housing/i-house.html.
Aztec Corner Addendum – Why do I have to fill this out?
Aztec Corner Apartments is for an 11-month period ending
Friday, July 31, 2009. If the student begins residence after
the year is in progress, the contract period begins the day the student
moves in and continues through Friday, July 31, 2009. This addendum
to the License Agreement presents the Terms & Conditions and Policies & Procedures
by which an SDSU student agrees to abide when residing in the Aztec
Corner Apartments during the period as stipulated in the addendum.
The Aztec Corner Addendum is required for all residents who have selected
Aztec Corner as one of their choices. The addendum will appear
in the Housing Admin screen--under Housing Requirements--and must be
completed and submitted with all your License Agreement documents. If
the Office of Housing Administration does not receive this form, your
License Agreement will be considered as “Incomplete.”
View more about Aztec Corner Apartments at http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/housing/corner.html.
May I change my hall choice, learning community, roommate preference,
or meal plan?
Hall choice, learning community, or roommate request
changes can be made through your SDSU WebPortal account only until Monday,
May 19, 2008 for the academic year (Monday, December 29, 2009 for spring
semester).
You may change your meal plan choice only until Monday, May 19, 2008
for the academic year (Monday, December 29, 2009 for spring semester). After
the start of the semester you must follow the meal plan change date schedule
as outlined in the Terms & Conditions and Policies & Procedures,
section 7.d. of the License Agreement.
What is Housing Over the Breaks?
Many SDSU students require on-campus housing over Thanksgiving,
winter, and spring breaks. University Towers, Aztec Corner apartments
and Villa Alvarado apartments will remain open during these periods. For
those residents requiring on-campus housing over the summer break they
should consider residing at Aztec Corner. Change of hall for
breaks only will not be considered.
View more about Housing Over the Breaks at http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/housing/lifestyle.html.
What if I would like to move to a hall other than the one to
which I am assigned?
When the residence halls open
in the fall the residence halls are full and the Office of Housing Administration
or Residential Education Office may not have the flexibility to move someone
immediately. Hall or room switches are dependent upon space availability. There
is a $15 processing fee to move to another hall or to switch rooms once
your move has been approved.
You will not be eligible for hall change once you move into Aztec
Corner. Room change within Aztec Corner, depending upon occupancy,
may be permitted if approved by the Office of Housing Administration.
Application and License Agreement
Can the Licensee be the Guarantor of Payment?
Even though you are legally an adult (those students
over 18 years of age) or you may be paying for your own education,
you cannot be the Guarantor. The University requires that someone
other than the Licensee be the Guarantor.
Why do I have to provide Guarantor of Payment information?
A Guarantor of Payment is the person guaranteeing payment
for the Licensee. If the Licensee defaults on any housing debt
owed to the University, the guarantor will be liable for that debt. The
guarantor can be any legal adult willing to assume this responsibility--parent,
legal guardian, uncle, grandparent or friend. Such a guarantee
is irrevocable. All guarantors’ personal information (including
social security number) must be included before submitting the License
Agreement documents. All guarantor information is CONFIDIENTIAL
and will only be used in the event that debt collection is required.
License Agreement documents submitted without complete Guarantor’s
information would be considered “incomplete.” An incomplete
License Agreement cannot be processed.
What sets my priority for assignment to a
space?
Beginning in fall 2008, new first-time admitted freshmen
are guaranteed a space in on-campus housing when a completed License
Agreement is received and processed by the Office of Housing Administration.
This also applies to returning residents.
Housing priority will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. A completed
License Agreement includes all required documents and the initial $800
payment. Completed License Agreements must be received and processed
no later than 4:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Tuesday, May 1, 2008. If
ANY License Agreement documents or payments are received after Tuesday,
May 1, 2008, the student will lose their housing assignment priority
and guarantee date. Their new housing assignment priority date will be
the date the last document and/or payment is received. Student
housing preferences will be considered, but students will be assigned
to a single, double or triple space depending on availability on a first-come,
first-serve basis.
Returning residents are guaranteed a space in on-campus housing when
a completed License Agreement is received and processed no later than
4:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 by the Office
of Housing Administration.
NOTE: It is strongly recommended allowing extra time for documents
to be received and processed by the Office of Housing Administration,
as OHA cannot be responsible for delays in the mail.
How do I apply for Housing and get a License Agreement?
In your SDSU WebPortal under Housing--“Are you interested in living
in University Student Housing?” Click “Yes” and then
the semester--fall or spring--and click submit. If you have been
admitted to SDSU and the License Agreement is available it will bring
you to the Housing Admin Screen. Under Housing Requirements, start with Housing Instructions. As you complete each step,
the next step will highlight. Follow the Ten Steps To License
Agreement Completion in the SDSU License Agreement Instructions in the
SDSU WebPortal. Follow each step until you reach
the last step of Final Review/Print Forms or PRINT – SIGN – MAIL.
Can I sign a License Agreement for the fall semester only?
The License Agreement is for a full academic year (or
full spring semester for new students entering spring). Aztec Corner
is leased for an 11-month period--see Aztec Corner Addendum. The
Licensee understands that this License Agreement financially and legally
obligates Licensee to reside in the residence halls for the entire
academic year or balance thereof.
What is a Licensee?
The Licensee is the person who contracts to live in the residence halls - the student. The licensee enters into a binding License Agreement with the Trustees of
the California State University by San Diego State University, hereinafter
called “University.” All communication will be between the Licensee and the University.
What is the Meningococcal Disease and Immunization form?
The form is required for first-time freshmen only!
Please read this form. In accordance with California
Health and Safety Code Section 120395, all first-time freshmen who will
be residing in on-campus housing must acknowledge receipt of this information
by completing and signing this form. This form is for informational
purposes only. No immunization is required for you to live in the
residence halls. You must answer the two questions at the end of
the information page regarding Meningococcal Disease and Immunization.
In the instructions and website it mentions “License Agreement
documents.” What are the License Agreement documents?
The License Agreement documents consist of the legally
binding documents between the Licensee and the University. Depending
on your class level or assignment choices, the documents you will be
required to submit include:
- San Diego State University Student Housing License Agreement 2008-2009
- Initial $800 payment (unless an applicant has received a Financial
Aid Office postponement)
- Meningococcal Disease and Immunization Form (first-time freshmen
only)
- Aztec Corner Addendum (if one of your Living Choices is an apartment
at Aztec Corner)
- I-House Supplemental (if one of your Living Choices is an apartment
in the Villa Alvarado International House living community)
Until all completed License Agreement documents are received and processed,
your License Agreement is incomplete.
I made the $800 initial payment without mailing in the completed
License Agreement documents. Is a space being reserved for me?
The $800 initial payment does not reserve a space for
you. You must complete your License Agreement. (See question above).
What is the deadline for submitting your License Agreement?
For 2008-09 there is no deadline. The Office of Housing Administration
will continue to accept completed License Agreements as long as spaces
are available.
Where do I mail my License Agreement documents?
In the SDSU WebPortal the SDSU License Agreement instructions
provide a mailing address depending upon which payment method you choose. A
payment coupon directing you where to mail your documents will print
out with your License Agreement documents during the Final Review/Print
Forms step of completing your License Agreement.
How should I mail my License Agreement documents?
The University does not recommend a specific method
of mailing (USPS regular mail service, accelerated delivery, FedEx,
UPS, or registered/signature required. Mail early to avoid any
possible mail delays.
For International students, it is recommend that documents be sent overnight
delivery.
Can the License Agreement documents be faxed?
All License Agreement documents must be the original copies. Faxed
copies are not accepted.
How will I know
that the Office of Housing Administration has received my License
Agreement and initial payment?
It is your responsibility to check the SDSU WebPortal
for updates about your License Agreement documents
and to expedite returning corrected or missing documents. Your
SDSU WebPortal, Housing Admin screen will update
daily with important messages as documents are processed,
e.g., “Guarantor’s social security number
not provided,” “Meningitis form not signed,” “Received
by Office of Housing Administration.” If
you just submitted your License Agreement documents,
it is recommended that you be attentive to the SDSU
WebPortal in case there may be discrepancies or additional
documents required. If your account does not
say “Received by Office of Housing Administration” within
three weeks of mailing, call the Office of Housing
Administration to confirm receipt.
Why are the Terms & Conditions and Policies & Procedures
sections of the License Agreement so important?
Read the Terms & Conditions and Policies & Procedures section
of the License Agreement thoroughly. You will be expected to abide
by these terms and policies. By signing the Student Housing License
Agreement and any applicable addendums, the Licensee agrees to the student
housing requirements and all other conditions contained in the Student
Housing License Agreement. The License Agreement is a legally binding
document.
Keep a copy of the Terms & Conditions and Policies & Regulations
for future reference. They can also be viewed online at: http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/housing/guide-terms.html .
Housing Rates/Billing/Financial Aid
How much does it cost to live on campus?
Housing costs vary depending upon the type of accommodation
and meal plan you select. All payments begin with an $800 initial payment
due at the time you submit your License Agreement documents. The initial
payment is applied toward your total cost and is not a deposit. You
have the option of paying the remaining amount in eight (8) payments,
September through April, or you may make payments in advance. Aztec
Corner has eleven (11) payments, September through July and these payments
can also be made in advance.
I am receiving Financial Aid. Why do I have to pay the
$800 Initial Payment?
You are expected to use your own funds for the $800
initial payment due with your License Agreement documents.
If you are a new undergraduate SDSU student, from a family with low
income, and you have applied for financial aid, the Office of Financial
Aid and Scholarships will notify you if you are eligible to postpone
all or a portion of the initial payment. Log on to AidLink to check
your financial aid status. All questions regarding postponement eligibility
should be directed to the Office
of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
I am receiving Financial Aid. How will that money be disbursed
to pay my housing fees?
If you are receiving financial
aid (grants, loans, or scholarships), University's policy will transfer
those funds to pay for any outstanding institutional charges, including
housing fees. The entire semester’s cost (the amount remaining
after you make the initial payment) will be deducted at the beginning
of each semester if your aid is enough to cover the semester’s
total costs. If your aid is not enough to cover the semester’s
total costs, you are responsible for making any remaining payments as
each one becomes due. Students should keep in mind that financial
aid disbursements are not made until the week before or the week that
classes begin.
When will I be billed for my housing?
Bills for housing are available online one week prior
to the due date. Bills are due approximately the 7th or 8th of
each month. For more information about eBill information view the Student
Financial Services website at http://bfa.sdsu.edu/fm/co/cashiers/ebillinf.html.
I received my eBill and it shows some miscellaneous fees. What
are these miscellaneous fees?
Included in the total cost of your License Agreement
are a nonrefundable service charge, and an optional, nonrefundable Activity
Fee and Recreation fee. For more information about Housing Costs
and an explanation of the miscellaneous fees, see http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/housing/costs.html.
How can I pay my housing bill?
Housing bills are paid in one of three ways; either
through the students online financial services account (also referred
to as CASHNet), by mailing the payment to University Cashiers, or by
making the payment in person at the University Cashiers Office. Again,
visit the Student Financial Services website at http://bfa.sdsu.edu/fm/co/cashiers/ebillinf.html for
all of your financial and online payment questions.
I received my eBill and it shows some utility charges. What
are these utility charges?
Residents at Aztec Corner and Villa Alvarado will be
billed monthly for their portion of the utility charges. For more
information about Housing Costs, see http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/housing/costs.html for
a full explanation of the utility charges.
Room Assignment and Roommates
How does the University make roommate and
residence hall assignments?
You will be assigned to a residence hall based on the date and timestamp the Office of Housing Administration receives and processes your License Agreement documents and initial $800 payment. In order for the OHA to make your housing placement, you must provide us with your living preferences for room, hall and meal plan by completing your online License Agreement in the SDSU
WebPortal. The hall assignment process is on a first-come, first-served basis. This process is also based on the number of available spaces and the date timestamp the OHA received and processed your License Agreement documents.
While we
attempt to match roommates by age and similar characteristics, it is
the responsibility of roommates to achieve an acceptable living relationship
through communication and negotiation.
There is no guarantee that you will get a room of your choice. If
a room from your choice list is not available, you may be placed in a
space that is available. For this reason, we recommend you select
more than one learning community, room type or residence hall.
Spring semester will be on a first-come, first-serve basis and as space
is available. Please be advised that none of your choices may be
available. You will be assigned to whatever space is available.
I want a particular roommate, how can we make sure we are placed
together?
Both you and your requested roommate must follow the
directions as described in the Living Choices step, Roommate Request
Information in your SDSU WebPortal. Both students must choose each
other as their roommate preference; you will need your roommates name
and RedID (you will not be assigned together if only one student requests
the other); ALL of your living choices must all be the same (both Chapultepec
Double, both Zura Double, both Aztec Corner 2-Bedroom Apartment, etc.).
Roommate requests are not guaranteed and will be considered on a space
available basis. Roommate requests will only be considered if License
Agreement documents from both students are received and processed by
Monday, May 19, 2008.
What if my requested roommate’s License Agreement received
date is later than mine, how will we be assigned?
You will need to choose between either being assigned
with your roommate or the room type. Note: If you choose
a Cuicacalli Single you cannot be assigned along with your roommate.
If you choose “Room”, the date your License Agreement was
received and processed will be your room assignment priority date. If
you choose “Roommate”, your room assignment priority date
will be the later of the two License Agreements received and processed
dates.
- Example: Your License Agreement received and processed date
is February 15, 2008 and your requested roommates received date is
March 28, 2008, if you select “Roommate”, your received
date will then become March 28, 2008.
This could prevent you from being assigned to your preferred room type
choice.
Can I be assigned to the same suite with my requested roommate
if we both want a Cuicacalli Single?
The roommate assignment process is for double room
occupancy.
When will I receive my hall assignment?
Your room type will be available in late July 2008
(early January 2009 for spring semester) and your specific hall and
roommate in early August 2008 (early January 2009 for spring semester).
This information will be in your SDSU WebPortal. If your License
Agreement is received after these dates, you will be notified by telephone
or email.
How will I know who my roommate is?
When completing the online Living Choices in your SDSU
WebPortal under the section “Authorization for Release of Information,” you
will need to authorize the Office of Housing Administration to release
your first name and telephone number to your prospective roommate.
In early August 2008 (early January 2009 for spring semester), we will
notify you and your assigned roommate of the hall to which you have been
assigned. If your assigned roommate has also authorized release,
you will be notified of their first name and telephone number.
What if I do not get along with my roommate?
Learning to share space with another person can be
a great opportunity for growth and change. It can also pose challenges. Each
resident is expected to complete a Roommate Agreement with his or her
roommate shortly after move-in.
The Residential Education staff has created a handout for you to review
in preparation for completing your Roommate Agreement. For more information
on roommate agreements and to obtain a copy of the “Guide to Living
in the Halls” visit our website at http://www.sa.sdsu.edu/housing/guide-life101.html. Each
resident will work together to set a standard of living for his or her
room, suite or apartment. Part of the residence hall experience
is learning to respect one another's differences. The Residential
Education staff is available to help you through this transition.
Meal Plan Options
What are my meal plan options and where do
I eat?
SDSU Dining Services offers a variety of meal plans
to fit the needs of individual students. See http://www.eatatsdsu.com/meal.aspx for
the meal plan that’s right for you. There are more than 20
on-campus restaurants and five (5) Aztec market convenience stores. Specific
hours and locations will be provided when you check into the residence
halls.
How much money do I have to spend at each meal?
Please refer to the SDSU Dining Services website for
details on specific meal plans at: http://www.eatatsdsu.com/meal.aspx. First-time
freshmen assigned to either Villa Alvarado and Aztec Corner apartments
will be required to have at a minimum the Apartment Mini Meal Plan. Even
though all meal plans are available to Villa Alvarado or Aztec Corner
apartment residents, Returning, Continuing SDSU and Transfer students
residing in the apartments are not required to have a meal plan.
How do I access my meal plan?
Your SDSU Student ID card is coded with your meal plan. In order
to use your meal plan, you must first obtain your Student RedID card
at the SDSUcard Office (Photo ID), 619-594-6800. (Students often
pay the $5 one-time charge for this card when they pay their registration
fees. Keep the receipt which shows you have paid for your RED ID
card.) Each time you enter, the Dining Services cashier will swipe
your RedID card. Your allowance for that time period will be accessed
and use of that allowance will be noted on the computer.
What food options do I have if I live at the Villa Alvarado
or Aztec Corner apartment complexes?
All Villa Alvarado and Aztec Corner apartments have
full kitchens. All first-time freshmen are required to have at
a minimum the Apartment Mini-Meal Plan. Others are not required
to have a meal plan.
License Agreement Cancellation
What if I need to cancel my License Agreement
before I move into the residence halls?
You may cancel a reservation for a space by giving
written notice to the Office of Housing Administration at least thirty
(30) days before the beginning of the occupancy period (on or before
Wednesday, July 30, 2008, for the academic year and on or before Friday,
December 19, 2008 for new students entering for the spring semester).
The final date to cancel a License Agreement without additional rent
charges is Wednesday, July 30, 2008 (Friday, December 19, 2008 for new
students entering for the spring 2009). Refer to the Terms & Conditions
of your Student Housing License Agreement.
All cancellations must be in writing and signed and sent from the student
Licensee (the agreement is between the Licensee and the University and

probably move out to live at the Fraternity/Sorority house for spring

Move-in Info/What Shall I Bring
What should I bring?
Bring a bedspread, extra long twin sheets (except University
Towers and Aztec Corner), pillowcases, towels, and non-halogen desk lamp
and bathroom items. Each residence hall room includes a micro fridge
(a mini fridge/freezer/microwave) in one unit at no additional cost. Cuicacalli
residents share a full size refrigerator per suite and do not have the
micro fridge in their suite room. In our traditional residence halls
each resident is provided with a bed, desk, chair, dresser, blanket,
mattress pad, pillow and wastebasket. Many students bring their own pillow
and extra blankets. Traditional residence hall rooms are not carpeted,
so residents may bring or purchase a rug after arrival. Suite-style and
apartments are carpeted (visit the individual hall pages for a more detailed
description of included amenities and furnishings). Most students also
bring electronic equipment such as telephones, computers, TVs, DVD players,
and stereos. Cable-ready televisions are recommended to take advantage
of the free local cable service provided.
