Contracting Questions

Q: What size groups can be accommodated?
A: We can accommodate groups of 10 people to 3,500.

Q: Do I need to be campus affiliated?
A: No, campus affiliation is not required.

Q: What types of conferences utilize the services provided by the SDSU Conference Center?
A: We accommodate many different types of groups ranging from: youth groups, sports camps, professional, foreign, technological, religious, college prep, to educational groups and many more.

Q: Do I need insurance?
A: Yes, please ask your conference coordinator for details and requirements.

Q: When should I make my payment?
A: We require a $15/person deposit to secure your reservation. The remainder of your payment will be made in two deposits; the first being 30 days prior to your conference, the second being 2 weeks prior.

Q: What if I need to cancel my reservation?
A: All deposits are non-refundable, thus it is important that you let us know as soon as possible if your group will not be attending.

Q: Do you permit family reunions?
A: Yes, however due to insurance requirements, a policy of $1 million must be attained, which often prevents family reunions from being held at the SDSU Conference Center.

 

Housing/Dining/Meeting Questions

Q: Are there any sleeping rooms with disabled access?
A: Yes, all our facilities are ADA compliant. Please contact your conference coordinator to request a wheelchair accessible room or other disability-related living accommodations.

Q: Is housing available during the academic year?
A: The SDSU Conference Center only houses guests from the end of May to the middle of August. All other conferences to be held during the academic school year should contact Meeting Services in Aztec Center for meeting space only at 619-594-5728.

Q: Are sleeping and meeting rooms air conditioned?
A: While air conditioning is provided in all sleeping rooms and most meeting rooms, it is not guaranteed.

Q: Are there Internet connections in the sleeping rooms?
A: Yes, Ethernet connections are available in all sleeping rooms and can be used by guests for a predetermined price of $15/week.  You may choose to have all guests purchases internet on their own at the residence hall front desk, or you can pay ahead of time for all guests participating in your conference. We will provide Ethernet wires as well as directions on how to register your computer for our network.

Q: Can special dietary needs be accommodated?
A: Yes, the SDSU Dining and Catering Services offer many options including vegetarian and vegan.  We must be notified of any special dietary needs and allergies at least 30 days prior to the start of your conference.

Q: Do you have catering?
A: Yes, catering for special events, meals, and breaks is available. Ask your conference coordinator for more information regarding services and costs.

Q: Can we serve alcohol at our events?
A:  Yes, alcohol may be served to guests of legal age.  The alcohol must be served at the event through SDSU Catering and must be consumed in the designated location.  The event must be closed off to the general public. Open bars are nor permitted at any time.  Alcohol tickets must be purchased prior to the event and cash will not be accepted by serving staff.

Q: Where do I park?
A: Participants staying in Zura, Tenochca, Cuicacalli, and Maya and Olmeca Halls park in Parking Structures 3 and 6 (PS3 and PS6), located on the corner of East Campus Dr. and Montezuma Rd.  Chapultepec Hall participants park in U Lot located on 54th St. Villa Alvarado participants park in C Lot located on Alvarado Rd.  All Special Permit parking spots are not available for Conference Center guests.

Q: How do I get to San Diego State University and the individual residence halls?
A: Visit the Directions and Maps page in the toolbar to the left for directions to our halls.

Q: Is There Health Services On Campus or Near By?
A: The SDSU Conference Center is within close proximity to many of the area's hospitals and health centers. Alvarado Hospital Medical Center, a full-service hospital with emergency care, is located adjacent to the University. Additionally, the on-campus SDSU Student Health Services is available to conference participants on a fee-for-services basis Monday through Friday.
