Guide to Living in the Halls |

Faculty-in-ResidenceGloria RhodesHello, my name is Gloria Rhodes and I am the Outreach Librarian at San Diego State University. I am the Faculty-in-Residence at Chapultepec. I received my B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from Elizabeth City State University and my MLS in Library Science from North Carolina Central University. I have worked in three types of libraries. I was an elementary school librarian in Norfolk, Virginia for five years. I moved to California in 1985 and worked in a public library in Oceanside, CA for 10 years. After my public library experience, I worked at Cal State San Marcos in the incumbent position of Multicultural Outreach Librarian. Cal State San Marcos was the perfect university for someone transitioning from the public to an academic library. I have been here at San Diego State for four years, serving as the first Outreach Librarian at SDSU! I love my job because of all the different campus and community constituents I get to meet and help with their research endeavors. My hobbies are reading (don’t laugh), listening to music (gospel and jazz), and attending plays and concerts. I was active in my church in North County and I am looking for a church home here in San Diego. My favorite dessert is bread pudding and I have tasted various versions of this decadent dessert. I finally found a recipe close to Grandma’s. I am not telling ? I have one son who is attending a CSU, living in a residence hall. My experience as an F-I-R has been quite an education in residence life at a large university! My goal is to assist students with their academic needs.
