D.J. Hopkins
D.J. Hopkins is an Assistant Professor, Head of Theatre Studies, and
Directorof the MA Program in Theatre Arts at San Diego State University.
His publications have appeared in TheatreForum, Theatre Journal, Theatre
Topics,and collections including Shakespeare After Mass Media, Performing
Transversally, and Rematerializing Shakespeare. His book City / Stage /
Globe: Performance and Space in Shakespeare's London (Nov. 2007) is
available from Routledge. He is co-editor of a collection of essays
entitled Performance and the City, forthcoming from Palgrave (2009).
As dramaturg, Hopkins has worked with Tina Landau, Joe Chaiken, Robert
Woodruff, Chay Yew, Greg Gunter, Jose Rivera, Naomi Iizuka, Les Waters,
Chuck Mee, and numerous other writers, directors, and theatre artists. He
is co-editor of Review, the online newsletter and journal of dramaturgy,
published by the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas.
He holds an MFA in Dramaturgy and a PhD in Theatre Studies, both from the
University of California, San Diego.
