Ethical & Civic Responsibility

To prepare yourself for a leadership role in society, it is important for you to STRENGTHEN your ethical and civic responsibility.

In general, to be ethical means to act in a principled and honorable way, and to have a sense of civic responsibility is to be an active citizen, be knowledgeable of public affairs; vote in elections and be involved in your community.

At SDSU, ethical and civic responsibility means engaging in behavior and making choices that:

  • Reflect the core values of our university and uphold the highest standards for honesty in your academic work and respect for others in your personal interactions with your peers and members of your community
  • Are consistent with the policies and norms of the campus community for your interactions with others
  • Give consideration to how your actions impact others and their consequences for yourself and others
  • Contribute positively to the campus and broader community.
  • Promote academic and personal growth of self and others.
  • Help you become a knowledgeable and active citizen.
