  Withdrawing from SDSU

If You are Planning to Withdraw

If you must withdraw from SDSU, you should refer to the Class Schedule and General Catalog for withdrawal procedures.

  1. Notify the Office of the Registrar and the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships immediately of your withdrawal intentions.
  2. The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will determine whether or not you received funds for which you are no longer eligible, according to federal regulations.
  3. If you did receive funds for which you were not eligible, you will receive an electronic billing notice from University Cashiers for the amount of funds you owe. If you require more information, contact the University Cashiers.
  4. If you are granted a refund of your registration fees, federal regulations require that the refund be returned to financial aid accounts in a specific order.
  5. If you have any outstanding student loan(s), contact the Loan Servicing Center as soon as you withdraw to determine when you must begin repaying your loan(s).
  6. Any remaining refund amount will be sent to you.

The semester may be counted as a semester of enrollment (see Academic Progress Requirements) and you may incur a unit deficiency that may impact on your future aid eligibility.

If You Have Stopped Attending Classes at SDSU

If you enroll at San Diego State University, then do not attend some classes or stop attending all classes, you must complete the official withdrawal process described in the SDSU General Catalog.

If you do not officially withdraw from your classes, you may have to repay a portion or all of the financial aid you received for that semester.

If you have any outstanding student loan(s), contact the Loan Servicing Centeras soon as you withdraw to determine when you must begin repaying your loan(s).
