Classroom Exams: Important Reminders About Testing Accommodations

Please submit requests for test accommodations to DSS, completely filled out and signed by the professor, one week before the test date. Call the DSS office for deadlines to submit requests for test accommodations for final exams.

Forms not completed properly will not be accepted. Forms put in the DSS drop box are collected daily. Students are responsible for calling DSS before noon the following working day to make sure the form was received and to answer any questions we may have.

Late requests will be accepted, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs; however, we cannot guarantee coverage.

A booklet entitled Student Accommodations Handbook is provided to students at orientation. This booklet gives a complete overview of how to arrange for testing accommodations. Please call us or stop in if you would like this booklet or if you have further questions about testing accommodations.

Changes, including cancellations, should be made at least 24 hours in advance. Contact DSS immediately when unexpected changes or cancellations occur.

University Exams: Special Accommodations

EPT, ELM, TWA [Writing Competency], UDWT, GSP, TMA [Math Competency], Math Placements  IA, P and III Notify DSS that you wish to take the exam with accommodations by completing a request form. You will be allowed only the testing accommodations authorized by DSS. Return one week later or by the deadline date to pick up the blue testing card which allows you to purchase your ticket prior to the test. Do not register at the Test Office until you have your blue card. Pay for your test at the time you turn in your blue card (except for the ELM, which is paid for on the day of the test, and the EPT, which has no fee).

If you decide to reschedule an exam, please notify Nancy Goodknight at the DSS Office immediately. If you have already purchased your ticket, you will have until noon the day before the test to receive a refund or change the test date.

Plan to arrive at your assigned testing room 15 minutes prior to the exam. If you are late, you will not be admitted. DSS students will be given a separate room assignment, so DO NOT follow signs to other rooms.

For more information about current deadlines for exams with accommodations, call DSS.

National Exams: Requests for Special Accommodations

DSS may be able to help you request accommodations for national exams (e.g. GRE, Praxis, LSAT, etc.) similar to those that you receive for SDSU exams.

Check the test's application booklet for deadlines and procedures for requesting accommodations. Complete a request form available at the DSS reception desk. Please allow at least 72 hours (3 working days) for your request to be processed through DSS.
