Student Advisory Board

Where and When does Counseling and Psychological Services Student Advisory Board (SAB) meet?

SAB meets weekly, every Thursday, from 12:30-1:30, in Calpulli Center, Suite 4401.

What is the role of the Student Advisory Board?

The Student Advisory Board is an opportunity for SDSU students to be involved with mental health issues (such as stress, relationships, depression, alcohol use, body image) that impact SDSU students.

Members of SAB are advocates for the campus community and work in close collaboration with a faculty advisor from the Counseling and Psychological Services.

A bonus to becoming an SAB member is affiliation with the SDSU Associated Student Government.

As a member of SAB, you will have an opportunity to help students in the following ways:

  • Serve as a bridge between Counseling and Psychological Services and the campus community
  • Assist in communicating the goals and activities of Counseling and Psychological Services to the campus community
  • Create and provide educational programs on Wellness topics
  • Review and make recommendations regarding policies and programs to promote the Counseling and Psychological Services’ goals
  • Voice student concerns and assist in identifying trends, which assist in the improvement of the Counseling and Psychological Services’ programming

SAB projects

SAB contributes to a number of Wellness related programs in collaboration with the Peer Education Program and Counseling and Psychological Services (C&PS). Below are some ways in which students in SAB have participated in campus education:

  • Relaxation Station
  • Safe Spring Fling
  • SDSU Health Expo
  • Disabilities Awareness Day
  • Future Aztec Day
  • Alcohol Screening Day
  • Depression Screening Day
  • Eating Disorders Screening Day
  • Tunnel of Oppression
  • Appreciation Reception for C&PS collaborators
