You're Invited to Attend the Marine Lab Open House, May 20With the collaboration of students and faculty of SDSU, the Marine Ecology and Biology Student Association (MEBSA) is organizing an Open House on Sunday, May 20.
The event will take place at the Coastal and Marine Institute Laboratory (CMIL). The Open House will showcase current research at SDSU, the facilities at CMIL, and educate the public about marine ecology and conservation.
MEBSA invites all students, faculty and staff at SDSU to attend the CMIL Open House. This is the first time CMIL has opened its doors to the public and is a rare opportunity to experience the facilities, research and activities at CMIL.
Interactive and educational activities will be organized by participating lab groups, who will demonstrate their research and related topics in marine science.
Activities will include touch tanks, games, SCUBA gear demonstrations, lab tours, a marine ecology puppet show, and research talks. The open house will conclude with a fundraising raffle including prizes of donations from community vendors such as gift certificates, snorkel gear, and museum tickets.
Come support fellow students, learn about marine science, and mingle with the scientific community in San Diego. Get more information.
We are kindly requesting donations from local businesses and private parties to support our raffle. Additionally, if you would like to make a Paypal donation to our cause, please visit http://sites.google.com/site/mebsacmil. Proceeds will go towards supporting the CMIL facilities and MEBSA’s many educational and outreach activities in the community.
Sincerely,
Sarah Wheeler & Violet Compton
