Meet Your New A.S. Executive OfficersAssociated Students elections were held March 20 22 and five new executive officers and 21 new college council representatives were chosen by the student body to represent your interests for the 2007-08 academic year. A record number of 4,459 student voters participated in this year's General Election (13.8%). These newly elected student representatives will officially take over for the outgoing A.S. Council on May 2 when they are sworn in during the A.S. Council meeting held in Council Chambers. See the Official Election Results. Now, meet your new Associated Students Executive Team: President James PoetA.S. President James Poet is a 21-year-old senior studying Business. James was born in San Diego but moved to San Ramon at the age of nine. James attended California High School before coming to SDSU in the fall of 2003. James is a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity where he served as president from 2005-2006. In his spare time, James enjoys swimming, hiking, and basketball, as well as walking his dog, reading, and wrestling. James' goals next year will be the students’ goals, but he also has a few of his own. He plans on increasing SDSU pride through activities and culture, reaching out to the community with service and information, and educating students on A.S. operations, finances, and opportunities. James is excited to work with his new executive team because of their knowledge, experience, and positive attitude Executive Vice President Jameson DeSantisExecutive Vice President Jameson DeSantis is a 20-year-old Television, Film and New Media and Religious Studies double-major. Jameson has also served as the Professional Studies and Fine Arts College Council President, an executive officer for his fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha, and a representative on AS Council for two years. Some of Jameson’s goals are to jump-start Red and Black pride by starting the Aztec F.OR.C.E. (Aztec Fanatics ORganizing Campus Energy), aiding ModernSpace with a new office allocation plan, and installing a Study Abroad “Sidekick” in the college councils. Jameson occupies his spare time as a DJ for KCR, following international soccer, and practicing the Italian language. After his term in office, Jameson hopes to finish his Religious Studies degree studying abroad in Budapest. Once graduated, Jameson wants to work as a writer and/or producer on both independent and major films. Vice President of External Affairs Jeremy EhrlichA.S. Vice President of External Affairs Jeremy Ehrlich, 21, is a senior majoring in International Security & Conflict Resolution with a minor in Spanish. He is the former president of his Fraternity, Sigma Alpha Mu, and has been apart of Associated Students for several years. Jeremy enjoys sports, music, and spending time with his friends. As Vice President, he plans to establish a Political Action Committee to advocate for all San Diego County students, locally and statewide. He also wants to help students find affordable housing and expand the Community Service Center at San Diego State. After graduation, Jeremy hopes to attend law school and enter into an international career field. Vice President of Finance Justin MotikaJustin T. Motika, the newly elected AS Vice President of Finance, is a 21-year-old senior studying Finance, with a minor in Information and Communication Technologies. Justin has spent his entire life in San Diego. He was accepted into the University Honors Program and received the Provost Scholarship. Justin is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, where he has served as President, Vice President of Communications, and New Member Educator. His achievements in Greek Life earned him the award “Greek Man of the Year” for 2005-2006. Justin is entering his second year of service with Associated Students holding experience as the Vice Chairman of the Finance Board. Additionally, he interns at the brokerage firm A.G. Edwards and Sons 20 hours a week. In his spare time, Justin enjoys running, swimming, rowing, rock-climbing, and working out at the ARC. He is also a certified skydiver, is grateful for his family and friends, and an advocate of astronomy, graphic design, sailing, traveling, and the environment. Justin’s goals for the year include improving budget efficiencies and communications, increasing involvement and interest of younger students, and expanding “A.S. Gives Back” to reward outstanding organizations. Vice President of University Affairs Michael MatthewsMichael Matthews is a 21 year old junior majoring in Political Science with a minor in Theatre (performance emphasis). Originally from Phoenix, AZ, Michael went to Westview High School in Avondale, AZ. He started as a freshman at SDSU in 2004. Michael is in his second year of service with the Associated Students. His interests and hobbies include: acting, watching movies, playing basketball, working out, hanging out with friends, going to concerts, and traveling. Michael is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. His goals for the upcoming year are to create a link within Webportal for students to trade and resell old textbooks with each other, online crashing, free legal advice on campus, huge free concert at Azfest, and improving the good neighbor program. His personal goals are to become a professional actor and do major motion picture movies, and to go to law school and open up a law office with fellow fraternity member Mike Foote.
