Homecoming 2006: Pirate’s Life for MeSan Diego State’s annual Homecoming festivities will be held from Monday, October 23 through Saturday, October 28.
Monday will feature a banner competition in the lower courtyard of Aztec Center at 11 am, followed by the Student Talent Show in Montezuma Hall later that evening at 6 pm. Tuesday starts out with a bang with a Karaoke contest at noon, held at the Aztec Center Patio. At 4:30 pm, the “Lights, Camera, Action” game show will be held in Montezuma Hall. Don’t stray too far, as the free movie screening of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, will begin at 6 pm in Montezuma Hall. On Wednesday, the festivities begin at noon with a Costume Contest and a live music performance by M-Pact at the Aztec Center Patio. Later in the evening, there will be a free sneak preview of a major motion picture at 6 pm in Montezuma Hall. Bring out your dancing shoes on Thursday for the Dance Contest, featuring a live musical performance by Heroes, at noon at the Aztec Center Patio. The Homecoming Pep Rally will begin at noon on Friday at the Aztec Center Patio. Saturday marks the last day of Homecoming Week. At 9:30 am, a War Memorial wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Aztec Green to honor SDSU fallen comrades. At 11 am the All-Decade Homecoming Reception will be held in Montezuma Hall. This is a great opportunity to chat with alumni of all ages. Ken Kramer from NBC 7/39 will be the special guest. Parade (see related story), will begin at noon on El Cajon Blvd. At 5 pm the Aztecs will play Cal Poly for the Homecoming Football Game at Qualcomm Stadium. During halftime, the 2006 Homecoming Queen and King will be crowned, followed by fraternity and sorority chariot races. Additionally, student organizations will be recognized through the Spirit Trophies and Greek organizations will be recognized through the Standards of Excellence Awards.
