Aztecs Welcome New Mascots

At the Sept. 23 football game against Utah, the San Diego State community welcomed the university’s new mascots: SDSU psychology major Miguel Navarrete and social science and public administration major Julian Quiñònez.

After the game, Carlos Gutierrez, who portrayed the Aztec Warrior for the last 16 years on and off, retired. He passed his iconic image and responsibilities on to Navarrete and Quiñònez.

Over summer, Guiterrez trained and mentored Navarrete and Quiñònez in preparation of their new duties.

Be sure to welcome your new Aztec Warriors at their next appearance!
