Finding Peace of Mind at the Center for Well-Being
For many students, the end of another school year can mean finals, graduation, job/internship/roommate searches, summer planning in one word: STRESS. The Center for Well-Being, located in Counseling & Psychological Services, offers students a variety of stress relieving stations that are sure to help keep their minds calm and collected during this busy time of year.
Below are a couple relaxation stations available at the Center for Well-Being:
Alpha Chamber
The alpha chamber is home to the famous “egg chairs.” Shaped like eggs, hence the name, the chairs have built-in speakers and a TV where students can watch a variety of videos designed to promote relaxation and personal growth.
Hands-On Exploration
At this station students will find several hands-on activities that promote relaxation and stress reduction. This station maintains supplies for art therapy, aromatherapy, a small Zen rock garden and several supplies for other stress relieving activities.
Hear the Difference
Here students can escape from the sounds of traffic, construction, roommates and everyday life. At this station students can select from a variety of calming soundtracks to create relaxation, and can find additional peace by listening to the wall water fountain located at this station.
Meditation Station
At the meditation station, students can meditate in peace and comfort behind a privacy screen, on a meditation mat with pillows. There is also a CD player with headphones to listen to meditation music.
