(December 5-9)

Sponsored by SDSU Student Affairs and the Dean of Students Office, in collaboration with: Aztec Parents Assoc., University Police, Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life, Cross-Cultural Center, Counseling & Psychological Services, Women’s Resource Center, Career Services, Student Health Services, Extended Studies, International Student Center, La Mesa Police Department, and the School of Social Work.

Monday, December 5 – THEME: Stress during finals and the holidays

  • Topic: Stress During Finals and the Holidays
    Description: Counseling & Psychological services will go over how to deal with stress during finals and the holidays. Light snacks provided. Open to all students.
    Time & Location: 11am – noon, Lipinsky Suite, Student Services West 1602

Tuesday, December 6 – THEME: What college men need to know about sexual assault

  • Description: Information on the White Ribbon Campaign. The campaign is the largest effort in the world of men working to end men’s violence against women.
    Groups: FratMANers and the Women’s Resource Center
    Time & Location: 10 am – 2pm, Aztec Center
  • Description: 502 Blues Program – a program on alcohol-related crimes. Sponsored by SDSU Police Department. Program is intended for a male audience.
    Time & Location: 5 – 7 pm, Tula Community Center
  • Description: Presentation on Violence Against Women. Sex Crime Speaker Detective Holden from the San Diego Police Department. “These Hands Won’t Hurt” activity to follow. Food will be provided. Intended for a male audience
    Time & Location: 7 – 8 pm, Tula Community Center

Wednesday, December 7 – THEME: What college women need to know about sexual assault

  • Description: Information on the White Ribbon Campaign. The campaign is the largest effort in the world of men working to end men’s violence against women. Students will sign pledge cards pledging never to commit, condone nor remain silent about violence against women, and staple them to jeans which will be displayed in Aztec Center.
    Groups: Panhellenic Association and Women’s Resource Center
    Time & Location: 10 am – 2 pm, Aztec Center
  • Description: Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Program sponsored by the SDSU Police Department and Health Promotions. Program is intended for a female audience.
    Time & Location: 5 – 7 pm, Tula Community Center
  • Description: Presentation on Violence Against Women. “These Hands Won’t Hurt” activity to follow. Light snacks will be provided. Program is intended for a female audience.
    Time & Location: 7 – 8 pm, Tula Community Center

Thursday, December 8th – THEME: Drinking, drugs, and driving

  • Description: San Diego State University proudly launches the California statewide campaign “Here’s One For The Road: Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention.” A press conference will take place with State of CA dignitaries and campus representatives. Anti-DUI vehicles will be on hand, including Jaws of Life demonstration and a DUI simulator. The first 100 students to sign pledge forms saying they won’t drink and drive during winter break will receive a free t-shirt. Open to all students.
    Time & Location: 10 am Press Conference, followed by student activities, War Memorial
  • Description: Information on drunk driving.
    Groups: GAMMA (Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol), MADD
    Time & Location: 10 am – 2 pm, Aztec Center
  • Description: A powerful program on Driving While Under the Influence, presented by Jim Huggins of the La Mesa Police Department. Open to all students.
    Time & Location: 11:30 am – 12:30 pm, Career Services, Student Services East 1200

Friday, December 9th – THEME: Safety tips when traveling in the United States and abroad

  • Topic: Safety Tips for Traveling in the U.S. and Abroad During Winter Break
    Description: Please join Professor David Engstrom, Vikki Serrano-Ruiz, and Robert Carolin as they discuss safety tips for traveling during the winter break. The first 50 students will receive a FREE LUNCH! Open to all students.
    Time & Location: 11 am – 1:00 pm, Lipinsky Suite, Student Services West 1602
